When it comes to packing for a holiday or a long weekend away I try to keep it very simple when it comes to my wash-bag. Usually when I go on trips I am either moving around a lot trying to make sure I see as much as possible or I am only going for a long weekend so I tend to only take hand luggage. Airline liquid restrictions means that I have to be every clever when it comes to packing my toiletries. I tend to use a lot of products with multiple functions.
Clear case (Muji)
Muji is really great for travel containers. They have tons of different sizes so you can find something that is suitable for all of your products. They also do clear plastic wallets which are the same size as those given out at the airport making them ideal for packing your toiletries.
Cream cleanser (Liz Earle)
Cream cleansers are fantastic as they remove all traces of make up and dirt (including mascara) This means you can get away with only using this one product to cleanse your face and there is no need to bring an extra eye make up remover. This Liz Earle cleanser is delicate on the eyes and leaves your skin feeling super soft and thoroughly cleansed. It is also available in a very small size if needed.
SPF Piz Buin
Annoyingly I am prone to heat rash and prickly heat when I am on holiday. It used to flare up every holiday just as I was about to start getting a good base tan which was so annoying. I would have to spend the rest of the time covered up or sat in the shade. This used to frustrate the crap out of me as I have always secretly longed for that JLo glow. It turns out that heat rash occurs when the skin’s sweat glands are blocked and sweat cannot get to the surface and evaporate. Most sun creams are quite thick and oily so they block the pores. For me Piz Buin is the only sun protection brand that seems to work well for me.During my last trip to Bali I used only this brand and did not get heat rash at all.
As i only take hand luggage when travelling I always have to get a deodorant stick rather than a spray. Mitchum deodorant is incredible. No matter how hot and sweaty I get this deodorant keeps me fresh all day. It is so resiliant that it does not even come off when I am dipping in and out of the sea.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour skin protectant
An absolute must have for any travel case, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant is a wonder balm that calms inflammation and helps relieve chapped, cracked and dry skin. It also works wonders on on burns and grazes.
Face cream/ Tinted moisturiser with high SPF
Tinted moisturiser is fantastic for your skin on holiday. It evens out your skin tone and leaves you with a glowing complexion. As it is less heavy than foundation your skin is able to breath so you are much less likely to get breakouts. This Elizabeth Arden one also has SPF 15.
Cotton buds are great for removing mascara from under the eyes and applying bite cream.
I always carry hand Sanitiser when I am travelling for those time when soap and water are not available.
Mini scented candle
I sometimes like to carry a little travel candle with me on holiday just in case I would like to have a nice relaxing bath or I just want to create some serenity in my hotel room.
Mosquitoes love me and seem to go for me every time I am away on holiday. I react quite badly to bites and they can get quite inflamed. Tiger balm is my saviour. If I catch bites early enough this incredible balm really helps to calm them down and stop them getting big. It also works as a mosquito repellent so I always pop some on my ankles in the evenings.
This cream is magic! It hydrates and smooths my parched skin on holiday. If my skin is feeling extra sensitive and tight I slather it on before bed and wake up with nourished supple skin.
Nail polish wipes
I always take these away with me as my nails always tend to chip on holiday and need a refresh.
Face mask origins
Sun, sea and sand is a fantastic combo but it can play havoc on your skin. this mask by Origins is amazing at calming irritated, burnt or dry skin. I like to use it once twice a week for deep hydration.
